It is not just the Democrats any longer, that have this mind set against "Assault Weapons" it is 90 % of all the politicians in federal and state offices, along with the poor fools that they lead around like fish on a hook, with gun control and more laws, of which they don't, along with the courts don't enforce.

He--, politicians don't even know the difference between a Assault Weapon/rifle and a standard semi-auto, yet that is all they can talk about, when they think it will further their agenda.
So they ban Assault weapons, criminals will still obtain them, by black market, stealing them from LE and many other sources, which will still have them on hand.
Criminals that kill or attempt to kill another, should have a day in court, if they survive their act, with in one week and then with in one week of conviction be executed. Then maybe these type of crimes will at least become less of a everyday event, as it seems they are now.
But so far, those same politicians want to protect the criminal and punish the honest citizens and remove the 2nd Amendment and many other rights, lawful citizens have.

About a year ago my daughter insisted that I watch the movie "HUNGER
GAMES" on Netflix.
At the end of the movie, after a lot of drama in the plot about those in power
against the regular people, a very sweet and lovable little girl named "RUE"
was killed by the "Bad Guys" and my daughter went on and on about how sad it was.
The next day I called her up and said "Good News!" RUE SURVIVED!
My daughter argued with me for about 5 minutes and I listened to her arguments.
Then I explained to her that "RUE" is an ACTRESS IN HOLLYWOOD and None
of it ever REALLY HAPPENED!
The phone went SILENT!

I would respectfully disagree (to an extent). The educational system has been taken over by liberals a long time ago. SOME of the teachers are the biggest problem, they can tell your kids whatever they want to and the parents are at work thinking everything is ok. Obviously, the political system is a sh*t show.

There is no separation between education and politics. In many states, California for one, the teachers Union is the largest organization donating time and money to political causes. It is also very partisan.

Burying our heads in the sand is not going to lessen these tragic occurrences. Many, if not all, of these perpetrators have been waving red flags on social media or in public for a long time. I think it's time we pay attention.

My idea of a "red flag law" isn't that someone makes a call, someone answers the call and then someone runs out and confiscates an individual's weapons based on hearsay. It must be a legal process with checks and balances that serve a very, focused purpose. I realize this is somewhat "Minority Reportish", but we either do all we can to nip it in the bud or we will lose a right that we cherish. It can happen.

our entire system??
If anyone believes that our legal system has anything whatsoever to do with right and wrong, I suggest they know very little about the system. People only receive as much Justice as they can AFFORD until they go broke.
The Bill of Rights says Innocent until "PROVEN GUILTY" by a jury of their peers, and everybody has the "RIGHT" to Self Defense.
Far too many have been cajoled into believing that its mommy and daddy governments job to protect them from all harm (and self ignorance and stupidity). In fact, Law
Enforcement has NO legal obligation to protect people from anything. It's their job
to solve crime after the fact.
Although I don't doubt that your intentions are very good, I consider them to very much on the naive side of Reality.
