Nancy Tompkins New Book

I received Nancy Tompkins new book "Prone and Long-Range Rifle Shooting from Sinclair yesterday.


I read chapter 12 on reading the wind last night. It really was an interesting chapter.


She has some great methods for dealing with the environmental conditions.

Mid, Nancy and Kent Reeve were the Instructors at the Palma Fund Raiser Long Range Firing School at Butner, NC last October. The line instructors included 4 national champions and several other really great shooters. I learned more about reading the wind in 3 days than in 40 years of shooting.

I have ordered Nancy's book but it has not arrived yet. I had two instructional periods on the line with Nancy. She is a very fine person besides being a great shooter and coach. It was a great honor to have that time with her, Mid and Kent.

Chuck:

We spent the first day in the class room talking about fundementals. Good form and repetition. We spent a great deal of time talking about ones position. We talked about equipnemt, pulse, and the wobble area. We talked about comfort vs dis- comfort. We talked about practicing and the new technological gadgets out on the market. There was a bit of talk about sights, and equipment. Kent Reeve spent some time on the floor demonstrating good form and position. We talked about ammunition and reloading. The main focus was on wind reading mirage and flaggs. we spent two days doinng drills with our rifles shooting and shadding, etc.
It was well worth every penny spent, I would do it again in a heart beat.

Anybody know if we are going to have one of the Palma Fund Raiser Long Range Firing Schools anywbere on the west coast or mid us????? Or anywhere in the US for that matter. Carl L.

I also attended the LR school with my daughter. It was a great experience and I have been using the principles we learned every opportunity I get. If I had the opportunity to go again I would.
