N133 or N135

I have lots of varget and H4895 on hand right now and N133 and N135 are available to me right now in 8 lb jugs only. I've never tried the VV series of powder yet but want to give them a shot. Bullets i have on hand are from 68 grain right up to 108 bergers. I know each gun is different in regards to powders but I would like to switch from varget to the VV powders in my 6br's because of much better availability. Don't have access to the 1 pounders for testing so 8ld jugs it is. Question is which one should i try?

My go to load is Varget, backup is N135 70 Gr to 87 grs. Hope that helps you make up your mind.. Tommy Mc..

N133 works great for me with 68 gr bergers. Plus if your going to buy powder you need to buy at least 8lbs . Believe me you will use it .

I use 135 with the 65 to 68 weights in a 1-14 and 133 in the smaller stuff, 223 and .20 practical.

a few threads down is "6 BR load with 68 Berger" and there are 5 pages. i have been using n133 almost exclusively, esp with heavier bulllets...i'm shooting a 14 twist. when i saw a mention that "n 135 was made for the 6 BR", i had to give a try. i don't shoot competition but now i might reconsider...groups in the ones and twos are now in the zeros! if you can buy n 135, do so, and you will be happy.

Perfect and thanks. The n133 and 135 are almost always available here so it sounds like i will switch over from varget. More expensive but no more worrys about running out of varget and searching and waiting for it.

The n133 and n135 burn a little cleaner than Varget, isn't much but might be something to help you feel better about the extra cash per pound.

I have been waiting to try both powders in my 6 BR with the 68 gr Berger. I know Alex (Shynloco) uses the N133 instead of the N135 for the lighter bullets with good results. I'm sure he will chime in when he sees this post.

Bullet availability is the main problem for me right now. I have lots of 105 bergers and 107 matchkings at the moment but they are hit and miss to try to re stock right now and would rather start shooting the lighter bullets due to 200 yard max distance at my shooting range. I have 1000 68 bergers on hand and ordered 3000 80 grain bergers as they are the bullets id like to concentrate on with the n135 powder. When i started shooting the 6br i bought 3 extra krieger barrels all in 8 twist. Wish i had grabbed a few in a 14 or 12 twist. My 8 twist does shoot the 68 berger with 34 grains of varget good though.

You should be shooting that rig at the 100-200 group nationals this week. You would be kicking their butts

My 6BR with a 13.5 twist shoots better groups with the N135 powder using Sierra 70 grain match bullets and Barts 68 grain boat tails. N133 works good too but N135 has enough of an edge I have a supply of it just for the BR.

I will have 2 8lb jugs of n135 in my hands on Monday and today just for the heck of it I decided to try some 8208xbr that I have had for 3 years and never bothered to try. I set up my 2 flagging tape wind flags that im slowly catching on too and used 31 grains with 68 bergers in my 8 twist. Only shot 3 shot groups but all four of the 3 shot groups at 200 yards measured under half inch before subtracting bullet diameter. I can't believe I never tried this powder. Maybe I should have bought 8208 instead. Never fails. ;) Also 80 dollars cheaper!! Who knows maybe I just fluked out but more testing tomorrow.

8208 is a nice powder and fairly clean. Quite versatile as well. We learn everyday by trying different powders and bullets. You wont be the last buying powder and realizing what you may have could be the ticket.
