My Wife Marilyn Had A Pacemaker Installed Yesterday…….All is good

The wait for her to get out of surgery must’ve been really hard for you. Awesome that you got good news and she’s even feeling better already!! I remember when my wife had a minor surgery just sitting in the hospital lobby waiting. It’s scary and all there is to do to pass the time is watch the soap opera playing on tv or stare at the clock. I chose staring at the clock. Can’t stand daytime tv.

Yes, myself and my sister in law sat around 9 hours.
When that doctor comes around smiling saying everything went great you just want to take a deep breath.

When we had our 50th wedding anniversary “extravaganza” last May, I was astonished at the number of people who looked at us with a lot of admiration. When people ask me how we do it, my favorite answer is……”I remember why I fell in love with her over 50 years ago, and I never fell out of love”.6FB00E59-ECA8-43CE-A2CA-2BA25A81B252.jpeg

That’s really awesome and something to be proud of. Nothing better than having someone at your side to share your entire life with!

Had one for about 6 years, I lucked up after prepping for the left side they went and ask my wife if I was right or left hand she told them left so they change and put it on my right side. They ask because I had been talking to the doctor about me being a shooter. Praying things works out for your wife

I'm glad your Wife got the pacemaker and hopefully it will do a spectacular job of keeping up with her .

I'm sure the Dr. has warned her stay away from Hi Frequency ,NO heli arc or arc welding with the Mrs. about !. Sometimes forgotten things like EAS in Dept. stores can be problematic . Basically have her avoid or Stay away from magnets and strong electrical fields .

Jackie, I had one installed about 8 months ago. Heartbeats 60 times a minute like clockwork instead of stopping altogether every now and then. Like Brx6, being lefthanded I made sure the Doc put mine on the right (correct) side.

I made a post several months back that my Wife of almost 51 years had to have a stent put in one artery. Her heart is in great shape after except her heart beat was always hovering around 48 beats, and regardless how hard she exercised it would never get much past 68.

WAY TO SLOW.

So after she completed her rehab after they put the stent in, they decided to go with a pacemaker.
They put in in yesterday morning, we were at the hospital all day, but she came home last night. She will have to rest that left arm for a couple of weeks, and that’s that.

She swears she feels better already. Her Doctor explained that this type of pacemaker would keep her heart rate at a normal beat, and induce it to speed up at the proper rate when she is more active.
Glad to hear she is doing well.

Best wishes to you and her.

I lost mine in November after 48 years of marriage. By best advice - maximize every day with her. May you have many, many more days together. God bless you and her.

On one Dr. visit, they just happened to check the wife's heart. Little strange so she was referred to a heart Dr. Heart going too slow? Found out one of her meds caused her heart to go slower than normal? Me? Take her off that med. No, give her another med to speed up her heart. Next day, ended up in the ER with her heart going like a race horse. I took those pills away from her. ER Dr. got in my face about that but didn't take long for him to change his tune. No more of those meds for here. Imagine that!!
If it hurts when you do that, DON'T DO THAT!! Don't need a medical degree to figure that out.
Then, Dr. says she needs a Pacemaker. I still ??? that but what do I know.
Got the Pacemaker. All is well. (except for the blood clot in her arm) A few days in the horsepistol and everything was good to go.
7 or 8 years later, time for new batteries. Dr. changes his mind and she gets a NEW Pacemaker. Should last another 15 + years. Like a new PC, new update every other day so you go new and don't look back.
She just hit 80 a few days ago and my bet, she'll outlive me. After 57+ years, wouldn't trade her for the world. Not sure about her but she was the best move "I" ever made. I think she still likes me. ;)
