to go 'chuck hunting over in the eastern central part of Ohio this past Friday. We're both in our 70's and been hunting together off and on for well over 55 years. Both of us REALLY enjoy 'chuck hunting and are always obliged to knock off a bonus coyote if the opportunity presents itself. I got there about noon, we cruised about some farms that he has permission on and picked a couple of fields to set up in around 5pm hoping they'd be out feeding in the relative cool of the evening.
We picked the right fields as we tallied 9 chucks in just under 2 hours. It was a far cry from our record of 37 chucks in 3 hours, but at least we're still around to take what we got and enjoy each other's company. Hopefully we get to do it again.
He really likes his 6-250 with 75 gr Vmax's and he took the longer field, and although I was itching to knock the cobwebs out of my 6xc, I took the smaller fields and packed along the 17 Remington M700BDL shooting 30gr Kindler Gold bullets.
Here's a couple pictures I took on the way out of the field of a couple of the ones I got. I was a surprised that the one opened up like it did as generally that bullet doesn't pass through at that range (approx 130yds). But it didn't know what hit it anyway.
