My newest coyote rifle in 204 Ruger

Good to see you back. Looks like that 1:12” barrel is stabilizing those 40 grain bullets okay. I’ve always had to drop down to the 39 gr. Blitzkings or 35 Bergers (both great) in my .204s with that twist rate.
Hope you smoke a bunch of our groundhog-killing coyotes!

Yeah, I haven't attempted to shoot any groups as of yet. 100 yards at night is a long shot!

Excuse my ignorance. What is a 40 BIB? I have done a lot better (9 groups under 2 inches at 540yds) with two 8 twist barrels than with the faster twist barrels shooting 40gr. I have a Shilen AR- platform barrel in .204 Ruger. It is 9 twist but I have not shot it much yet. Having some .204 Ruger cases available would help.

A BIB bullet is a custom bullet made by Randy Robinett from Madrid, Iowa. He bullets in my opinion are the BEST custom bullets on the market. I shoot his 20 cal 40gr and 6mm 65gr bullets, but don’t tell anyone about these fine bullets.

If I recall the 40gr BIB and 40gr Berger look very similar to each other and in AP2020 gel block test they performed basically identical.

My Hart 1-12's, and other brands of barrels my friends use all shoot the 40 V-max exceptionally well. Does seem like there are a few more guys out there where the 1-12's don't cut it though.

Why would anyone kill a coyote? Do you like rats and mice so much that you want to keep them from being eaten? Feral cats are another story.

Lot of very ignorant people out there concerning predators.
Amen brother my answer to the misinformed is I kill them , and plenty if I do say so myself, so i can enjoy more of these reaching adulthood, is that so hard to understand? My excellent coyote eradication program has made many of these things survive, which would you rather have.

I am using BIB 40gr and Hodgdon Benchmark powder.

In a scant 3 weeks, our Ohio coyote pups will be ready!!!

Very nice , absolutely love my 204, it's a Thompson Center Venture with a 1 in 10 twist, IT shoots everything beautifully, right out of the box, only thing I had done was a trigger job by Mcarbo in Florida, and this 204 will shoot with the best out there guaranteed.

You just have to love wildly ignorant statements like this. Do you know how ridiculous it sounds when you make bold statements about a gun like that shooting factory ammo no less and how you guarantee it to shoot as good as any out there. Some people truly are a legend in their own mind.

He’s passionate about how well his factory rifle shoots. I can get on board with that, I love it when a factory rifle shoots better than it ought to. True they don’t run with full customs but sometimes the smile-per-dollar ratio is up there, even with a gun that happened to come in a cardboard box.
