Ok its been a long wait but it is finally home. My newest 6ppc Heavy varmint rifle. Here is the run down!

- Bat Machine MB dual port
- Bob Scarbrough Heavy varmint carbon fiber stock.
- Heavy varmint Krieger 13 twist barrel chambered by me in 6ppc. 263NK .060 FB
- Jewell trigger
- NF scope. Number 3 reticle small dot. I love this scope!!
- Buckys barrel tuner installed by me
I chambered the Krieger barrel up last night but didn't have any day light left to shoot. I woke up this morning at 5AM and headed for the shop. had to turn some brass first thing, then I got started on break in. The n133 with the fowler bullet, has been a long proven match for me. Looks like this barrel is going to shoot the fowler somewhere around .020 off full jam. That's about normal. 29.8 grains of 133 looked the best, but to early to say for sure.

Temp today was around 85 degrees with a west wind around 12MPH. Lots of mirage to deal with to. Not ideal conditions!

The rifle tracks extremely well in the NEO rest. The barrel showed no copper fowling, so I shot a few 4 shot groups, just to get a feel for the seating depth.
N133 and old fowler bullets got the call. The groups thus far look promising. I was blowing out brass as I went, so I didn't expect to much.

The Krieger barrel cut real nice in the lathe, and while slugging before I chambered, the bore felt nice and consistent.

The stock is a thing of beauty. I waited a long 10 month for this stock, and let me tell you it was well worth the wait. I love the color, and more importantly I love the feel. Bob Scarbrough builds one heck of a nice stock.

Let me know what you think. Enjoy the pics. Lee

Man you are spoiled, LOL LOL, That is one fine looking machine right there. Lee are you still shooting the bordens? What lathe do you have and would love to get a pm how you do your set up to chamber etc. Have a good one and shoot the heck out of that baby. If you get a chance post some more groups as that rifle has more than good potential. It will probably be a true hummer.

after I took all these pics and right before dark I went back out to the range. At 29.8 grains 133 and .025 off the jam this barrel stuck back to back to back 5 shot zeros. phone was dead so no pics. I think it will be a real solid barrel/rifle.
ill post more pics later this week.
Now I need a LV barrel that shoots this well. Good news is I have a few on my shelf waiting for an oil bath on the lathe.
Spoiled I am not. I work two jobs to afford these rifles and tools. Spoiled is a lazy liberal waiting on the mail man. Lee

Lee,

Very nice rig. Did you do load development without the tuner and then add the tuner and dial it in? I have a new barrel and Bukys tuner that I'm getting ready to work with and just wanted to know the procedure you used.

I put the tunner on just for the pic. I'll finish tuning the rifle and then add the tuner. I really havent even started load work. I do however have a good idea where to start now.

I figured so Jon. I just hate the though of someone thinking I don't work hard for my stuff. Life is good when you put your boots on tight every morning. lee

Hello Lee.

Your new addition looks great!! Get that corn back up on both sides of your shooting lane! Still looking for a JLC, but will get it.

Beans this year. They get about 4 foot tall so that may play hell on my groups? Time will tell. No worries on the die. It will happen. Lee

Interesting that U indicated that U slugged the barrel
I have read a lot about that by Bill Calfee with respect to rimfires..
I did not know anyone else did this...seems to be a good idea.

I try to gain all the information I can before chambering a barrel. 350$ a pop isn't chump change. Doesn't take long to do, and one would be surprised what you can feel. Lee

Very true Doc.
The two main things I feel for is of course, tight and or loose spots. If I have a tight spot near where I want to crown, I take advantage of it. I cant say for sure that it makes or breaks a barrel, but it doesn't seem to hurt. One trend I am seeing as far as loose spots go, is that if a barrel does have a loose spot, it seems to be on the chamber end of the barrel. why im not sure? I have felt this a few different times now.
I have pulled slugs and I have pushed slugs through a barrel. I find for me I get the most feel from pulling a slug through a barrel. All this silliness interest me so I find it semi fascinating. None the less I think its important to know whats going on inside the barrel. Lee

yep, lead slugs. pure lead slugs. I buy the slugs from a place called seco I think. I would have to look. lee
