How often do you turn the machine off & on when chambering a barrel?

Some guys like to stop the machine before extracting the reamer to remove the metal chips.

I know some people stop the spindle to remove the reamer but do they also turn the motor off? Re-read the post by Mr. Lee. I don't reach across any part of my lathe when the spindle is turning.
