My new rifle has a 20 moa rail on it and my scope has 130 elevation and 130 windage. Do I need the 20 moa for 300-600 yards primarily?

Will the 20 moa cause me grief? (SWFA 12x42 SS - MOA-Quad Reticle, 30mm, .25 MOA Clicks) It would seem that the 65 up/down and 65 left/right should be ample out to1K, occasionally, without the rail.

I've never used a rail for anything other than mounting scopes. Do I need to re-center the scope's elevation and windage when using the factory 20 moa or just slap my scope it on there and start dialing?

I have zero experience shooting past 300 at the moment. Thanks, in advance.

All relative to how much drop you have at 1000 yards. You need your velocity and bullet info ,weight, bc. Plug it into any ballistic app and it will give you your drop at tell you what MOA you will need.

No

I always use a canted rail. I want to keep my elevation dope as close to machanical zero as possible to avoid undo stress in the erector assembly. Travel per click also comes into play,
such as 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 etc.
