My new range is done

I have my range finished.

A friend has some land near my house and we shoot together. I asked if it was alright to get serious about a place to shoot. I was given permission to build a 200 yard range.

We have 50, 100, and 200 yard backstops.

The slab was poured by a buddy of mine who has a concrete company. I made the benches from cinder blocks and liquid nails. The tops were cut from two layers of 1.5" flooring plywood. They were finished in marine varnish.

Looks solid. What you using for target backdrop?

The 50 is for small bore only and it's a home made bullet trap. 100 yard is an old dog house with a removable roof and double walled sides. I filled it filled it full of soil. It works great.

The 200 yard is a large wood pile with mulch and wood.

No steel core allowed!!!

What about your left hand friends?

Well there are about 4 people allowed to shoot here and none are lefties.

That seems elitist and exclusionary. The Feds will soon fix that and make you share. ;)

I am sure I will meet the Feds eventually... You will too. :)

Already been interviewed several times. Thanks for the thought. ;)

No wishing it!!! Just stating the enevitability of it all...

Very nice, roof next? I have a 23 yd. indoor range in my basement and shoot up to .44 Magnum there. I don't have 200 yds. to work with but thought about doing 100 yd. underground with some type of concrete precast.

No sooner than the range is done, I was informed the other land owner who owns the gate has locked us out.

Gotta love the times we live in...

You should check with your local laws regarding that. I have been doing a bunch of research into several states lately about property and most have laws allowing you to cross land to get to your land. I guess you could call them right to access. Look into it and maybe you can have the honor of telling the gate troll to go eat grass.

that sucks!

Do you mean that the land you built this on is co-owned? One owner locked you guys out, while the other gave the ok to build the range? If so, then you might be SOL!

That really sucks man. Hope you can work things out...

Pretty sweet man! There is nothing better than having your own place to shoot, hunt, 4 wheeler ride and what ever the heck you feel like doing! I personally hate going to public ranges. Some of those places have annual memberships over $500. That is crazy! Invest $ on land. I brought a couple city boys I work with out to my place to go shooting and now they canceled their range memberships and beg me to take them shooting all the time. Screw walking to see or change out your target. Just hop on the 4 wheeler and ride down there! Went shooting a couple weeks ago and had 4 turkey walk out of the timber. I took a pic with my smartphone through my riflescope at the turkey! NO....I didnt shoot any!

The owner next door owns the ACCESS gate and he locked the land owner out. Sadly, my friends are city people and won't stand up up them... I would tell that guy I'm using the gate I have bolt cutters...
