My new annealing machine

Nice design.
I'll be watching with great interest. I'd rather have an electro-gizmo annealer but it doesn't seem those will be realware anytime soon.

Very nice, I too have recently designed one of these myself, I really liked the Bench Source unit but don't want to spend $500 on something that relies so heavily on non-reparable proprietary electronics, plus I think the BS unit is just a royal pain in the ass to adjust/set up. I don’t want to say too much more at this point as mines still a prototype but I wish you good luck and may the best machine win!

Nomo4me, you mean something that uses induction heating instead of propane torch(es)?

The technology's well established (stuff like this: http://en.ambrell.com/cat/product_easyheat.php) but certainly not as inexpensive as a bottle of propane from any hardware store & inexpensive torch kit.

Add the cost & complexity of a turntable arrangement to move cases into and out of the heating coils & you're talking price points for custom rifles.

A group of 6 of us shared the cost of a Bench Source annealer so the price was individually reasonable. So far no one has complained that it was too complicated to set up. I just annealed 800 .308 Winchester cases in a bit over an hour including setting the machine up.
We are all very satisified with the Bench Source.

That makes a lot of sense as long as all the parties live fairly close to one another, or frequent a club house where it could be stored.

Less that $100 is a price point I'd jump at were I one of a similar group inclined to do what you describe.

It's MAGIC! ;D

You don't need to go into any detail, but I assume that issue has been addressed? Also can it freewheel forward at all if the case is placed in there with too much force?

Hi Ragged,
Yes i did address the issue. The wheel can still turn forwards, but you would have to fall in there with the case to move it. It would then miss one cycle and self align on the next.
I found a real cheap "device" that does the job perfectly.
I will sell you the secret with a machine. ::)

No need to roll your eyes friend, we are all on the same team here. It was a valid question considering the asking price, just trying to give the board members the best information possible, having designed one myself I have some insight that others may not have. If you don't wish to have your design vetted then you may not want to advertise here.

Ragged,
Nothing bad meant by the rolling eyes. I think i answered your question as best i could without publishing my design for everyone on the net to copy. You will notice that my design exhibits all working parts and i am not hiding anything behind covers. I too had the problem of freewheeling and it took time and effort to solve it. In the end the solution was simple and it costs around 10c/unit + the time i took to solve it. I think it would be unfair of you to expect me to publish it in the name of vetting the design.

I guess rolling your eyes means something different in this culture, it's generally not viewed as a desirable expression here.

At any rate I was very clear in not wanting any details, I was simply asking about function.

Also lets be honest, the design is not ground breaking in anyway, it does everything or less then others on the market right now and it does so at a higher price point. I'm hoping this is indeed a prototype and hopefully the final design will be much more refined.

My friend Ragged ,
All your questions was aswered in as much detail as you asked for 4 posts up already.
Now bugger off and go and solve your own problems.

I suggest you look at the top of the page, this forum is for discussing the pros & cons of gear, not free advertising. If all you want discussed are the pro’s of your design then this may not be the place for you, also it’s generally considered bad taste to only post on a forum when you are selling something (all 11 of your posts are in this thread).

I have been very polite and respectful in my minor critique, and trust me dear friend, I could easily bring up more but I don’t care to nit pick every little flaw, just the major ones (but keep posting snide comments and I will unleash a laundry list).

When there are cheaper units that work better (Bench Source) I don’t really see the place for such a machine, like I said I hope this is a prototype and you clean up some issues before you start selling them.

Well done baboonstalker, we could be buddies. I dont care for badgering types either. Great machine, small footprint. I hope you do well here in the states.

Havn't heard back. Guess he moved on to something else. I ended up buying a Ballistic Edge model 400 and am really glad things turned out the way they did. I really like this model 400. Great craftsmanship in this product.

He hasn't even logged on since Nov 1st.

Hope you didn't send any cash upfront.
