My brand new 6br

This is an 8 twist barrel, 28 inch chrome moly made by John Benjamin in Portland in a Bob Hart stock from Stocky's. I traded rear sights with a fellow 6br.com guy and I think this will be a real shooter

JohnO... nice lookin' stick!

I just got a new 6BR as well (less than 250 rounds through it)... old school Rem 722 (modified to single shot) with a Hart 2oz trigger, Broughton 8 twist, and nice chunk of wood under it.
This was my gunsmith's personal rifle, which I have not shot, but have shot against it in a friendly range session. (this gun out-shots my 1k BR rig at 600 yards). It will make one hell of a varmint rig, which is what I plan to use it for...

Anyone who cant appreciate a beautiful older 722 needs mental health. It looks spectacular and John o your set-up makes me drool. Nice choices guys and shoot the heck out of them.

A couple of nice looking guns! I assume the Stocky's stock is in the "brandy" color? I have one in timber and wish I had gotten the brandy instead... sharp.

Nice guns!! A 6BR is tough to beat at 600 yards.

I was just reading a short mention in Tony Boyer's book about Mike Walker and his involvement in the .222 Remington and the introduction of the 722 actions into BR shooting. What are the differences between a 700 and a 722 (and a 40X for that matter) that would make one better than another for precision shooting?

Tony, This doesn't really answer your question, but my 722 isn't a"plain Jane." There's a company that modified the action and stock for target use. (I can't think of the name?) It has a weird setup for the bottom metal/trigger guard. I'll take a pic at some point this weekend to show you what I'm talking about. The mag port (if that's what it's called) on the bottom of the action has filler plate in it. It's nicely done, so you can't see that it's there unless you pull it out of the stock, and look at the bottom of the action. It looks like a true single-shot action on the inside.

I just called my smith... not remembering that company name was bothering me!

It's a factory Remington 722, which Mashburn Arms bought from Remington, then modified the action and stock (as described above) and sold them as target rifles.

Mashburn Arms is no longer in business.
