My new 260 AI build ...

Joe, very nice shooting. What load did you end up with?
Well, I ended up with 48.8 grains of H4831sc, but that is really a meaningless number since we have different barrels and different chambers. For some unknown reason my barrel was running about 100 fps slower than expected at any given charge. What you really want to know is the velocity that I needed to achieve that kind of precision, right?

Well, I'm not going to spoon feed you like a baby, but suffice it to say that it is right where QuickLoad said it would be, given my barrel length.

Kindest regards,

Joe

Ok Guys,
This is my final report on this thread. On Thursday (Oct 6th) I had done some more load testing at the 100 yard line but I couldn't confirm it at 300 or 600 because the range was closed. So on Saturday and Sunday (this past weekend) we had our Texas State Rifle Mid-range championships. There was a switching wind during the whole weekend that gave everyone fits, but on Sunday morning I managed to score a my first clean 600 yard match not once but twice. In conclusion, it seems to me that at mid-range this cartridge does more than hold its own. It will run with the Dashers and the 284s, and in more capable hands, it will win matches.
Kindest regards,

Joe

Hope you get to take it out further and see what it'll do. I seen one post some nice groups @ 1500.

Thanks for posting this Joe, I am new to 260 AI and this has been very helpful. It is a great cartridge. I'm at a low node now and shooting tight groups at 300. Looking forward to getting more out of it.

Way to go Joe...Good to hear. Are you using Palma brass with that load and did you have a chance to Chrony it?
Take care and keep up the good work
