my new 17 fireball

Here's something for my fellow fireball lovers. I got out to the range with my new 17 fireball yesterday to do a powder test with some 20 vmaxes, just to seen what it likes. its a zermatt origin action with a lilja barrel, sitting in a richards microfit stock.

Ultimately i want to find a good load with 25 grain bullets. Anyway, so far so good, and its looking like H335 and X-terminator are working the best. we'll see after some more range trips.

below is the pictures of RE7, H335, IMR4198, benchmark, and X-terminator.

How do you like the stock? H335 is a good powder in my 17 Mach 4, the OLD 17 Fireball....;) I am seriously considering 'building' another 17 Mach 4, on an Origin.
What trigger are you using and how do you like it?
Good stuff.

haha the original 17 fireball huh? its an older timney, maybe a Calvin Elite. its set somewhere around a pound. I like it for what the rifle is used for.

The stock is good for the money. it was a blem so there is some small things that are wrong with it. I wanted to save some money on the project and the target can't tell the difference, haha. it came 90% inletted, so i had to do some work. but it turned out pretty good.

On the stock, I don't care what it looks like. For me, it's all about the performance..... I'd like something that I can chop & lighten & mod with no regrets... Thanks

I wish i would have had my gunsmith build me one when i had the chance. He hung it up 4 months ago. Yeah i know there are others out there. He was good priced and did not just sit on builds. He knocked them out as they came in

Not sure what others have found but mine liked being just touching the lands. Groups halved.

With reasonable neck tension and that much bullet in the neck it's never going to pull out.

I'll be watching this. I'm in the early stages of 17 Fireball handgun using a JTAC Industries chassis stock and PacNor 16" barrel. I've got nearly #400 pieces of Nosler fully prepped. I've got Varmageddon and V-Max 20 gr bullets and Redding FL sizing and seating dies. I hope to evenly get Wison hand dies when I catch them in stock. Undecided on what powders to try, but I already have good supplies of H335, CFE BLK, X-Terminator, IMR 4227 and Accurate 2200. Everything has come in except the barrel

Been shooting the 17 FB for several years now. Great cartridge that's extremely efficient and fast. No recoil and you can see the hits through the scope. X-terminator and H322 have delivered great results using 20 and 25gr bullets.
