My Kids First Match 600 yards at the Golden Range in S. E. OHIO

My Kid's First Match at
Golden 600 Yard Match Gallipollis, OH

This is a bare knuckles match for cash. Paying out for the top four places in group, and best four places in score. You can pay some additional $$ and shoot for closest to the X and best four shot group.

Heath and I made the 300 plus made trip on on Friday. Spent the Night in Gallipolis and headed to the range early Saturday morning. This was his very first competition and the first time he's ever pulled the trigger on a 600 yard target!

To say the least both of us were thrilled with the outcome. On Heaths very first target he shot a 1.703 group in the middle of the ten ring with score of 50. Of the 42 competitors, three 50s that were shot, but Heath had the smallest group of the three, giving him the win for high score. He also won the pot for closest to the X! Taking in a total of 124.00 dollars

An impressive start to his shooting career!

PS
Yes he kicked my butt! Shooting the same rifle and ammo. I may have to rethink my shooting technique!

Other notables:

Johnny Tjioe was on fire! The match consisted of three targets and Johnny posted two 1.4s. They told him to stop shooting 1.4s so he did. He finished with a 1.3!

Paul Whitt took home Shooter of The Year honors for the Golden range! This is Paul's second year in a row to win top spot! Paul was one of the first guys to push me into making the 105 6MMs.

Jeff Haner was also on fire shooting a couple of 1.2s and a 1.9. I failed to get a picture of Jeff.

Yes these are all Happy Bart's Custom Bullets Shooters using my 105 6mm Infinity Boatails.

Morning Bart,
Congratulations to your son on his good shooting. I am sure both of you are very happy about it. Enjoy every minute of the time the two of you spend shooting together. These are the best of times.
My son Paul and I shoot 600 yard benchrest at Piedmont and I treasure the time we spend together.

Congratulations and well job DAD. I just started getting my now 12 year old into shooting as well FTR. If I can get him to focus on his skills so I up the challenge clay pigeons out to 300 yards and hopefully push out to 600 and beyond.
Once again great job and good shooting to your son, I see a rifle build coming up

Bart you said you may have to re think your shooting technique. ;D ;D ;D
Most kids don't THINK They can aim small and make a good shot.

I hate to tell you but I bet you just lost that gun, my daughter won her first match with my first 6br and never let me shoot that gun again. Congrats!

ttfreestyle,

I fear you are correct. At a minimum I'll have to build another gun! I've been waiting a long time for him to show an interest in shooting.
