Very nice, you will like the 55 Berger's maybe not better than the 40 Vmax on Pdogs but they work great on groundhogs and coyotes I'm getting 3650 with RL15 although I have backed it down to 3550 also tried some Varget but the RL15 shoots a little better,
My 20br is also a Savage singleshot small shank action with a 26" Pacnor 9 twist with a RB SAV2 trigger bedded in a HS stock and topped off with a Leupold VXIII 8.5-25x50, I have many varmint rifles Remington's and custom actions and this one is my favorite although this summer I just built a 20-250 but have not had much chance to use it yet.

Here is a write up from GGVG. I also use the same die setup as you. I have not shot any bullets over 40 grain. I can push 32's to 4800 and 40's to 4200. You are down in Price or Helper right?

I had one day of vacation to burn before 12/1/12. I used that day to put a cap on my 2012 pdog shooting. The conditions were perfect ;)(55 degrees, mostly sunny and little wind). With that in mind I had hoped for more targets but only a few were out. I did manage to shoot a few and see a good number of nice antelope, mule deer and raptors!

The rifle in the picture is my 20BR. The rifle is a Savage 12, SSS barrel, B&C Duramax Stock, Burris 20MOA Signature Zee Rings, Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24 scope. The little BR case does not feed well so I installed a single shot adapter. This is one of my favorite dog rifles.

This is a picture of a dog encountering a 40 grain vmax out of the savage. The dog was shot at 360 yards. I have only hunted this late in the year a few times and the dogs sure had some thick fur!

Here is a picture of some neat cloud formations that came up as I was leaving. They looked like UFO's heading my way or vanilla wafers.:p

DogBuster , I've heard that Berger is discontinuing various heavy Bullets in the small Calibers . Don't know if your 55 is included , but it might be prudent to contact Berger and see .

Hey Rich

You get to shoot that 20-250 yet? I'd like to know what you think? I'm trying to decide between that and a 20br for the 55gr.

Thanks

Yes its up and running but I need to work with it a little more, I've had the 55's over 3800 but backed it down to 3700 I still need to try a couple of different powders. I haven't really had a chance to get it out in the field much work has been crazy busy, but I did take it out for our last groundhog hunt I hit one at 150yrds with a Berger 55 at 3800+ the hole top half was vaporized and the rest was blown a couple feet off the mound.
I'm going to try and get out this weekend for coyote's.

So far I like it brass is easy to form it feeds great so far it doesn't have the accuracy of my 20br and may never get there but its plenty accurate enough for coyote's

I would like to know who's reamer, and the specs, you are using for your 20BR builds. I put one together on a Rem 700 action, but never had the accuracy that my 20 Practical has. Was a lot of fun, shooting 32 VMAX at about 4200 fps, talk about a flat shooter.

I would also like reamer specs.

My reamer is from PTG I had it pretty much set up for the 55gr Berger the rifle is a single shot Savage action with a 26" 9 twist Pacnor barrel in a HS stock with a Rifle Basics SAV2 trigger and a Leupold VXIII 8.5-25x50 LRT it shoots pretty good for a Savage

What is the freebore for the 55's. I can't see the print clearly.

I have a barrel ordered and need to tell Shillen what freebore I want.

Thanks,

Jimmy

joghotrod i just ordered a barreled action in 20br from shilen as well. i want to shoot 40 vmax and 55 berger. i read that the short bearing surface of the 55 only needed .050 throat, but i dont think it would work for the 40. did shilen tell you what thier neck dia. was?

Yes they said their reamer has a .234 neck and a freebore of .010. So I will shoot 39's and 40's until the throat opens up and then shoot 55's. I might be able to shoot the 55's loaded a little short.? I do have some 50 Bergers that I usually shoot in my 1/9 twist Dtech AR that I can shoot also.

Thanks for the enfo rich44.
