I am building my 9 yr. old Grandson his first hunting rifle. Pictures are below and also the names of the great guys that helped me with it.
Mike Bryant, Wheeler, Tex, reamed the raceways, trued the lug abuttments, single point threaded the barrel threads, and trued the action face. Dave Kiff, Oregon, provided a ground, fluted bolt to fit the reamed raceways. It also has a .062 firing pin assm. and one of his 3 POS safety. Dan Armstrong, Fairbanks, Ak., tig welded one of his bolt handles on. Dan understands bolt timing!. Pete Pieper, Precision Barrelwork, Hempstead, Tx. installed the Anschutz bolt release. Karl Feldkamp of Kampfeld Customs in Michigan did the cut on the left hand side of the receiver and the cutout on the front of the ejection port. Jim Kobe, Bloomington, Minn. installed the 3 POS safety and finish welding and shaping the rear tang.
The above is a lesson in that it would have been cheaper to buy a custom receiver. I am very happy with the finished product and the help from a great bunch of gunsmiths. I will install a Shilen barrel that I will chamber in 6X47Lapua. It will shoot Randy Robinett 95 Grain deer culling bullets. The chamber is .070 freebore on the recommendation of Pat Byrne. If anybody has a lightweight glass Rem. short action stock they are not using let me know. I can make it fit with a little body work as it will get painted anyway.
Thanks for looking.
