My future shooting partner!

My daughter was bored today after playing Wii for about an hour, and she told me "Dad, I'm bored", I asked, "What do you want to do?", and what she said next made me as happy as can be, she said, "I want to go shoot!"

I had bough her a rimfire target a while back, so I set it up, got her gun out of the safe, ear muffs, and handed her my shooting glasses since I could not find hers and went out to the back yard where I set up the target and had her shoot off an old table resting on a sand bag.

We had tons of fun and she enjoyed herself alot, then she put the gun down and asked if we could do it again when her older cousin came over so that they can have a "challenge", I of course said, "sure baby, you can shoot anytime you want!"

Anyways, here are a couple of pictures of my pride and joy and possibly future shooting partner!

Shooter: Amberleeana Cortina, 7 years old.
Gun: Cricket 22LR, Millett red dot scope - stickers were her idea because she wanted her gun to look like "daddy's"!

She put two shots on every target, target #1 and #3 have two hit each!

that's really cool..... one caution.... don't blink....if you do she will be asking for keys to the car and then you'll will blink again and she will be 19 and in college.....life is short ... like wind across the grass......another thing when your daughter calls shotgun... for anything... your wife should still come first.....

I know what you mean, I blinked and now here she is shooting guns! Not that it's a bad thing, but time sure flies!

What neat pictures. You must be very proud. Reminds me of taking my daughter to the range and her firing away with my scoped Ruger 1022 over 20 years ago. She is now 37 years old and we take her husband and my 2 grandsons now. She can still out shoot em all. I wish I had taken some pictures of her shooting when she was little, except it would probably bring teares to my eyes. They do grow up sooo fast.

Nothing better than a lapua sticker on a hot pink stock.I wish my daughter was younger without the responsibility of her own kids to allow me to reintroduce her to shooting.She is a crack shot.L:ast summer she shot her boyfriends new 22-250 remmy vssf and outshot us so bad that it was embarrasing to admit she beat us that bad.She hadnt shot in nearly 10 years. Your daughter is cute with the cricket and the next move should be a .218bee in a singleshot.No kick and real good accuracy..I have 2 of the bee's a ruger#1 and the marlin classic my daughter used to shoot with me.She really liked it alot.The no kick and great accuracy out to 100 yards.

Well....enjoy those years! My daughter used to shoot with me when she was that age. Now it is all cheer leading, texting, computers, skype, and so on....

I miss those early years.

I bought the same rifle for my daughter two years ago. She had to grow into the rifle but it fits her now at 7 1/2 years of age. We live in the city so we can't shoot as often. However, about once a month we take the rifle out and go over three safety rules; 1) muzzle in a safe direction, 2) finger off the trigger, and 3) action open. I also bought a couple of .22 LR orange plastic snap caps and she practices loading, dry firing and ejecting the snap caps at home. Occassionally, I'll give her the rifle with a snap cap in it to test her on safety.
