My first true target rifle!

Well, I am officially in the target rifle club..... sort of. I received my long awaited employee purchase for a Savage RBRP Precision Target receiver today! Plans include a Kreiger 6mmBR barrel, perhaps a SSS Heavy Target stock, more than likely a Weaver T36 to start, and then a lot of range time! I'm a huge tinker-er and the Savage action works great for me until I can afford a lathe and mill. It won't be a competition gun, the nearest club is about 2.5 hours away in Pierre, SD. I'm not saying I won't eventually make it up there, but I'm not building it to make regulations in any class. The goal is to be a heavy gun only shot off of benchrest, and to pop a few prairie dogs off at anything past 600. Well, back to work so I can afford the parts to make it a rifle instead of a receiver!

I like the Savage actions also. I have a few of them around here plus a few extra barrels. I bought a 243 Shilen barrel from Mid Way $ 50 cheaper than I could but a 243 blank from Shilen. I put it on an action and fire 10 rounds through it, probly will shoot another 10 or so then take it off and rechamber it to 6-284. I love the ease of head spaceing on them.
