My first 6mm rifle - what glass? Recommendations

I am new to the 6mm shooting sport and will have my first rifle completed 1st week in April. I have read several of the threads and am somewhat confused on the scope to use.
200-600 yards 6mm/22-250.
Variable or fixed & what size?
Reticle, Mil-dot, target dot, fine duplex?
Brand?
Durability & repeatability most important
I am not on a shoe string budget, however, have two sons in college,so I have to be somewhat frugal and practical).
My budget for glass is $800-1200

I have shot in some tactical matches in the past and have used Leupold and Tasco SS Mil-dot scopes. 308 out to 600 yards.

Your thoughts and opinions appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Steve

If you can pay the bil;, NF is the way to go.

should be able to get the BR series for under 1100$

only problem is limited elevation adjustment in the higher power--check www.nightforceoptics.com for info

but 1000yds will be no problem with an angled base ;)

cheers,
JB

Are the used/pre-owned NF scopes a good purchase idea or do they need to go back to NF for a checkup, or new?
Really like NP-R2 reticle looks like something I could acclimate to, fairly easily after mildot scopes.
Any opinion about the hollow mil dot reticle?
Thanks!

Check out the boosted Leupold Mark IV on this week's Gun of the Week. Originally a 16x, it's running a fixed 32x now after a 2x boost from Premier. 5 years of stable zero--can't beat that for consistency and reliability.

The other two options we'd consider are a 6-20 Leupold LRT and the 6-20 Zeiss Conquest. We like the Zeiss controls and resolution a bit better, but the Leupold offers a boost option from Premier, which can take you up to 40X for less than the cost of a Nightforce NXS. There's a 6-20 Zeiss going for $600 right now on Benchrest.com . That's a steal. But if you're shooting paper at 500 yards and beyond, you will probably want more magnification at some point.

Thanks fellas, that gives me an excellent cross section of scopes to look at for my application.
Keep em in the 10 ring!
Thanks!
