My findings with the new RCBS chargemaster

I finally got to load some cases with my new chargemaster.Programing the load into the unit was easy and straight forward.I primed 40 BR cases and set the machine at 31 grains of Varget.
The first 8 charges were dead on according to my beam scale the next several were 1/10th of a grain under and then it settled back in again and threw dead on for several more. This went on for the entire 40 with 16 charges being one tenth of a grain below 31 grains, none were over 31.When a charge came up lite on the beam scale I moved the 10th of a grain slide back one notch and it zeroed at 30 and 9tenths.I then rezeroed the beam and checked again.

The time it took to dispense each charge was 18 seconds with no malfunctions of any kind.

after loading my cases I was curious to see how the charges were with an almost empty powder bottle. With only a half inch of powder visible in the bottle after draining most of it out, the unit still threw consistant weights all the way till the powder was emptied out and it could not complete it's last charge.

My opinion of the chargemaster after my first time using it is very good and the accuracy is better than I could have done with my powder measurer.I will still recheck every 5 charges before completely trusting it with this load,if it never strays beyond one tenth in any direction that will be all I could ask for.I might add that having a good lab scale to check the weights would have been the way to go as stated in the chargemaster article section on this site.

If you let the ChargeMaster go through it's cycle of charge,it reports the charge desired - not actuallly thrown), report the number of rounds thrown, then re weigh the charge, you will get "the whole truth",it reweighs the charge) without using your beam scale.

understood, but I came to realize that most charges thrown with the chargemaster were as accurate as my previous method in which I used a powder measurer and trickled up on the beam scale.

This week I had good conditions for shooting here in central PA on a few days and I loaded up 60 cases with 31.3 OF RE-15.The chargemaster threw all but 6 charges dead on as accurately as I could weigh them with my scales.Wish I had a Denver Instruments to check them up.
