My F-Class F/TR best

I set a new personel best yesterday in F/TR at Peru Rod and Gun Club, Peru, NY. We shoot 300 yd. shoot and paste w/5 sighters, then 3-15 round strings.

148-5X, 150-5X, 150-11X for a 448-21X Overall High Score

I'm starting to love VVN-135 for my .223

280man,

'Walk-n-paste' is an accepted method for NRA matches. Most of the time you see it used for reduced course XTC matches @ 100/200yds. Seems like by the time you start holding 300yd matches, some ranges start putting in target pits, but others do not, due to space or money constraints.

If anything, it's harder than regular shooting w/ pit service, because as he mentioned, you have no idea where exactly you're hitting, unless you have a very very good spotting scope. Little black bullet holes in black paper @ 300yds are pretty darn hard to see unless you have very good glass *and* the lighting is across the face of the target just right.

For the OP,

Congrats on the good scores! What kind of load data were you using? I've got a .223 kind of in the works for dinkin' around 600yds and in,plus less expensive to feed) to save the barrel on my 'team rifle' for big matches. So far about all I've had a chance to run through it has been left-overs from my XTC guns - .223 Service Rifle and Match Rifle. Luckily it seems to like those pretty well, but I'm always on the lookout for 'better' ;)

Taildrag15x: Knowing and understanding that all rifles are different, and could have pressure problems,, I always start "on the low side"), could you post your load combo using VV135, I use a lot of it in my 6BRs'), in the .223? Was using Varget, but find too much inconsistancy between lots. RL 15 seems to be a little better, 24.8 grs. w/ Sierra 69 gr. #1380), but I'm really interested in a good load combo using VV135. Velocities using it produce very small spreads when testing with my chrono, in the 6BRs'. Thanking you in advance, but if you do not want to post your load, I understand.:)

DOH! I thought you said you liked A-Max's... I must have mis-heared or just assumed you meant A-Max.

Still, damn fine shooting in the heat!
