my best group yet

Well after $3,000 in the gun and custom barrel and load testing my lowly Savage finally stepped up to its true potential today!
So all you Savage shooters, it can be done! Below is a 3 shot group shot in 10-15MPH cross winds at 300 yds off a bipod using Lapua 105 over varget powder and a pampered Lapua case. Ignore the 308 group below it as per my brother's instructions. Anyway, it's my first sub .1MOA group at 300 yds! I think I found the key with neck tension in my load development. I just wonder what it would have looked like at 600?

It seems my largest problem was consistant neck tension. I don't neck turn or ream out the necks. I think this would help but I don't have the money to invest in the gear. Anyway, what I now do is segragate my loaded rounds acording to approximate seating tension. Those that go in easy go to one side those that go in very hard go to the other. My brass is mixed and some of it has 8+ loads. Over time it takes a very diciplined shooter to keep things organized and even then brass behaves differently. It's all in the 'feel' or the loading process. If it feels wrong it probably will be. When I shoot strings of 15 I know I have 15 loads very close instead of randomly grabing rounds from a 50round box. It sounds commom practice but not many people do it on the line! It took me 20 years of reloading on my own to figure this out!
enjoy
