My barrel just completed 10007 rounds today

Hi all, my barrel just completed 10007 rounds today.
It is a .308 true flite, 30 inches, 12T. Has shot HBN coated since new.
At 7500 RDS I honed the barrel. http://forum.accurateshooter.com/index.php?topic=3859845.msg36493959#msg36493959

Please check my plots on this link.

For clarification, the 10 is on our system a 5. A X is our V and our X is a circle that is 0.5 moa.
Roseville is notorious for its quick wind changing conditions, most times shifting in seconds.

I don't think that tube owes you a dime! That site is awesome! Seeing the targets does the vertical concern you? I tried to compare with the 2012 800 yard targets and the groups seemed rounder. Still great scores and there may be other influences. Great shooting by the way!

Sorry for the time it took me to reply but duty called.
The vertical is definitely a concern. There is nothing like a new barrel. I've got 2 Kriegers ordered.
I've uploaded on youtube my this morning's session on issf targets at 300 metres. The 10 ring ( green spotter) is 3.6 inches or 1.2 moa. The x ring is 1.8 inches or 0.6 moa. I used a camcorder on 60x magnification. Check out those mirage changes. And you can see the bullet vapour trail just to the left of the aiming mark.

Also attached is a picture of my rifle. The yellow brass thing is my barrel tuner weight. The stuff that looks like aluminum foil is a vibration absorbing polymer to absorb the travelling wave harmonic.
Let's see how the picture comes out...

Parts of that stock have a very definite Anschutz smallbore look to them.

This is the list of components of the rifle:
Stock HPS from the UK with an Anschutz pistol grip, Anschutz hand stop and Gehmann butt plate. Custom made cheek piece. The stock has a great chassis but the fittings didn't fit me.

Action: RPA Quadlock from the UK. Blueprinted and with a 100% titanium firing pin with a redesigned stack of belleville washers.
The factory firing pin weighed 130 grams. The titanium firing pin weighs 24 grams. It cut my ES and my SD down to half.

If you have any questions on it, I'm more than happy to answer:-)

Glad you managed a good run with your Trueflight barrel. Mine was less than stellar and was pulled at 600 rounds... >:(

What I do to choose a barrel off a batch is to use a tight patch or a lead plug on the bore of the blanks. If it tightens at and towards the muzzle, i keep it. If it tightens very close to the muzzle, I ask the gsmith to crown it at that spot.
Any other situation, I politely turn the barrels away.
Haven't been wrong so far in telling if a screamer screams.
Since you are the one footing the bill, you should be able to check within a batch.

That is why you can make a good barrel shoot bad, but you can't make a bad barrel shoot good.
Once the projectile crosses over the maximum constriction point, gas starts to overtake the seal of the projectile and accuracy is gone regardless of how many rounds that barrel had through it.
This particular barrel was gone at 7500 rds. After the honing with an abrasive, now that barrel is "conical" towards the muzzle.
A cleaning patch will barely grab the lands in the first 8 inches of the barrel. Then the cleaning patch gets tighter and tighter. Last couple of inches towards the muzzle, the cleaning rod actually flexes a bit.

I have read this thread with great interest, however the video link is no longer functioning. Is this an issue on my end, or through the server?

Agreed. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to check a batch prior to purchase. Ultimately just unlucky with it. It happens. On investigation it was bore variance which was the main culprit.

It was I that put up the search query instead of the link.
Try this:

It sure did. That nine came from it.
I tried putting a mark on the screen where the x was in the start of the recording, and alas, if the aiming mark had stayed put, that nine would have been an x.
Next Wednesday not this one, I am doing two tests:
Shooting the same projectile but some at 155.2 grains and others at 155.8 grains round Robyn. Will they group in two different groups?

Filming a shooting stage and gauging changes of mirage, aiming mark height and point of impact.
What do you think?

It will be interesting seeing the results. I like your idea of filming and indicating the aiming mark in heavy mirage conditions. Boiling mirage in a typical Aussie summer can be frustrating at the very least!
