It's amazing, and incredibly fun, how quickly a 10 minute part that costs nothing turns into a whole project.


I ordered a PMA neck turn tool. Should have been here a few days ago. PMA is maybe 75 miles from me. The package has taken a 1500 mile trip so far, but it's not lost yet. (Thanks, USPS, I guess)



Meanwhile, the 17 twist barrel I am buying from Chris Mackey is delayed, too. The check I sent him priority mail is "Progressing through the system" or some such bullcrap (Thanks, USPS, I guess)



So I got antsy... I have a 308 10 twist barrel someone gave me laying in the corner of the shop. I decided to make it a fireform barrel on an action I don't shoot much.





I've got a bunch of Benchmark and Sierra 110 Varminter; bullets.... I'll see how she does.

You may have noticed that the Post Office is raising prices -again.

This is why; you can't ship something all over the country like that (unnecessarily) and not build up costs.
I just had a package from Phoenix go to Palm Beach before coming to Delaware, so, a 3400 mile trip instead of a 2400 mile trip.

Them being stupid costs us -NOT them...

I'd let my buddy prove it with his own money and I assure you the struggle is real but we all gotta learn it the hard way.
I had trouble with a lot before it was a known problem then doubled down with what I thought was an older/good lot and proved it yet again.

Minimal sizing in the base or .200" line has made mine useable.

Luckily I got BR brass and wont have to deal with that. Long live 30BR!

I can see why you fellas like 30BR so much.

I shot 100 rounds to fireform and straighten things out. 33 grains of Benchmark and sierra 110s shot surprisingly well. Especially considering the mixed bag of runout and cheap bullets.

Pick up the burn rate (N120/130, LT30), a BR quality bullet and enjoy.

I've got a 1000 hottensteins being saved for when I build the final gun. Searching for faster powder. About the fastest thing I have is n133.

I kinda want to throat this barrel out to shoot heavy bullets to add to my 'crap i don't need' pile.

What's funny, is the website doesn't give you a ton of information... but if you get the right person at a post office, they can basically tell you exactly what truck it's on and it's location.
