MY .260 AND SUPER POWDER

Finally decided to shoot some 120 gr. A Max with this Super Powder for the first time and i was right on this one. 5 rounds in a .250" @ 100 and 3100+ fps. with room to go higher as no pressure signs detected at all. Lots of controversy on the forums about this powder but i had to try it as i like to try different things and i am happy with the results. I did not go higher with the charge weight because this load shot the best of 3 loads with it. I will try the heavier weights as soon as they become available in my locale. Not much on the shelves since the OBAMASCARE took over. ..... SEMPER FI!

Sargesniper,

What kind of velocity numbers did you get and what are your rifle specs. I've been wondering the same thing, I have shot the factory superformance 308 ammo and was not impressed. The velocity was nice but the accuracy was not. I've often wondered if I would be able to find a fast load that shot good using this powder but have never taken the time to try it.

I only tried it in my .260. Don't load it in my .308 but i may try it one day. My rifle is a Savage F-Class Action with Target AccuTrigger. Barrel is 30" Bartlein 8.5 twist. Standard chamber cut. My load was 47.0 gr. Superformance/120 gr. A-Max/ 243 Win. Case Necked up to 260./210M primer. Seated 12 thou.off the lands for a .250" group at 100 yds./ 3100+ FPS. Hope this helps you and everyone else that has been wondering about this powder in the .260. As soon as things let up i hope to get some 129 SST's going with it. If you are interested i found and ordered 8 lbs. and 500 123 A-Max bullets from Powder Valley yesterday. 30 day wait on shipping though. Don't know how long it will be available so do not wait too long if you want it. .....SEMPER FI!

In the 308, I think you will get low velocitys. It has the same burn rate as H4831

Hi KMart, You are probably right, may be better suited for 30/06. Anyway my .308 shoots scary accurate with my loads as is. You shouldn't try to fix what isn't broke, right? The .260 is a whole different number though. It shoots 120 A-Max's with excellent accuracy with this powder. As a side treat is it gives very good speed also. I do plan on ventureing on to heavy bullets as soon as things settle down with component availability in my area. Thanks for the input, always welcome. .....SEMPER FI!
