My 25 Krag Is Back !

I just got back my 25 Krag from CPA rifles. It was used off of another CPA and they fitted it to my 44-1/2 action.I have a 348 Win,45-70 and 33-40 barrel fitted to the action as well.
My plans are just to shoot cast bullets but the previous owner had great luck with jacketed bullets.
It was one of the earliest. 25 wildcats and I'm looking forward to playing with it.
Barrel is a 1-10 Douglas

I'd rather have a 25-35 but this barrel was cheap and came with form.dies and brass.
I'm struggling with brass fitting the chamber at the moment.it chambers a bit tight and extraction is hard .(you can see the rub marks on the case in the picture) the original owner had the same trouble and they corrected it but must have forgotten what they did when they did mine.i was exited to shoot it tomorrow but it will have to wait

Is the shoulder just not formed back far enough? This is ignorance speaking...
Beautiful case hardening!

Datum line on shoulder is fine.body is rubbing a bit above the head and also a tad behind the shoulder.
It's a wildcat so this is just part of the battle.i making a die on my little Sherline lathe to reduce the tight area's.after that with my low pressure cast loads o should have no issues

CPA builds a hell of a rifle!!! I've had the pleasure to shoot a few and they are stellar!
They are works of art.I'm rather fond of the Stevens 44 and 44-1/2.

There are couple 44's in the attached picture (2 at the bottom) from my scope swap-a-roo getting ready for spring squirrel shooting.
They are a 25-20 SS and 25-20 WCF.
Great vintage varmint rigs.

25-20 WCF one of my favorite rounds, Have two of those rifles, one a CPA.
Fun to shoot!
Hope you get that chambering problem fixed, I'm thinking screw down the sizing die a full turn & cam it over. But I could be wrong - again!

I've even taken a few thousands off the top of a shell holder and it didn't help.

Cba,
Did you resolve this? What is the diameter at the shoulder rub spot? You can easily make a bushing (dia -004”) to reduce that dimension on the brass. Fireforming should then tell if its a die issue or chamber issue.

I'm making the bushing later this AM.i had my Sherline lathe set up with my milling column and didn't want to change the set up.i don't remember the numbers on the reduction I need.
I'll keep u posted

Update. I found 20 older ww cases that fit the chamber and extract easier
but still were snug.i formed 20 and will shoot it this weekend.
I didn't make the bushing yet as I still and making stuff on the lathe and don't want to change my set up.i probably will need to do so though.
