My 10 year old girl shot her first F-Class match

Shot some 600 yard F-Class today. I ran the gun back and forth to the line and set up the rest. I also pulled the targets. She moved the spotter and scoring disc in the pits. She actually likes working the pits. She did all the scoring and spotting for her shooting partner. I watched through a second spotting scope for the first 10 or 12 shots to make sure she was scoring correctly. She never missed a beat so I stopped watching. She shot great for a first time shooter. She has a problem with dropping an 8 when the wind dies down. She calls the gusts fine. We had wind running from right to left and all of her blown calls were to the right. She also can't reach the rest to adjust so she has to manipulate the rear bag. I couldn't be more proud of her and how she ran the gun. She was super excited all day and has been bouncing off the walls. When we got home there was a shiny new SEB NEO sitting on the steps. All I've heard this morning is "Get some sand so we can blowup pumpkins with my rifle and the new rest".

somethin' to be said about young eyes and no bad habits

I am so glad when young people, especially girls, get involved with the shooting sports. There are too few of them involved now... They are our hope for a long lasting tradition of firearms... Great job!! Great shooting!!

Thanks for sharing your pride with us. Frame that score card:
Brand new shooter, 10 years old, 563 (6X) on a 600 aggregate is a very nice score.

Excellent!
Hopefully she will stick with it, and if she does, she will unquestionably be a top shooter.

Great job, Regan! Keep up the good work.
And kudos to her dad. A parent that takes the time/effort to get their child(ren) involved in our sport is to be praised. With so many distractions, it's easy for kids to find other things to do these days.
We have a father/daughter team here. She went High Master at the old age of 16 in Open.

Take a look at that score card, it looks like she is a fast learner. Give her some more time and those 8's will go away. After raising a couple kids I know what can happen quick. ( I beat DAD!!!!)

My daughter shot her first match at 15, she had trouble reaching the rest as well so I removed the forearm stop so we could slide the gun farther forward(just not so far as to tip the balance of the gun forward of the rest). She is now in her third year and although college has her very busy we try to shoot a couple three matches a year. Cherish your time with her.

Those are some impressive scores! She did quite well. Now if I could get my boy off the damn Xbox maybe he would have as much fun as she looks like she is having! Thank you for getting more shooters to the line, we all need to follow your lead!

Did I mention those are great scores?? ;)
