MV Limits at Connaught for 2017 FCWC

*** UPDATED AS PER REVISED NUMBERS FROM BERGER *** Thanks to Larry B for the heads up!

Many of you who might be planning to come up to Canada for the 2017 FCWC may not be aware that there is a ballistic limit at Connaught imposed by the DCRA to help ensure we are well with the range template, and don't run afoul of the Canadian Forces, who very graciously allow us use of the range. The following table shows some of the most popular bullets in use in F-Open today, and their associated max MVs:

If there is a bullet you don't see here let me know and I will run the numbers for you. We look forward to welcoming you to Ottawa!

Cheers,

Scott

Denys, try to keep that thing under the 3100 ftps speed limit listed for 210 VLDs!.......:p:D
Crap, you mean I have to rework my 308 load? It's a really good load, but I can only use virgin brass and I use a rubber hammer to open the bolt. You should se the brass when it comes out. The small primer pocket is now the size of a large primer pocket. Nothing some diligent annealing won't fix.

I remember watching a guy shoot at Nationals a few years ago using Palma brass, he was using new brass and would throw it away after firing it as the pockets were toast in one shot. His load shot awesome but damn that is a little more adventurous and too expensive for me!......:D

I think I know whom you're talking about. I would not emulate that as I am a LOT better looking than he is so I have a lot more to lose if anything untoward were to occur to the rifle during ignition of one of those thermonuclear loads. Plus brass costs become prohibitive.

Apparently our latest list caused a bit of a s*#t storm. Thanks to Applied Ballistics for helping us keep things fair for everyone. Here is revision #2 for today.
