Bostrom Gunsmith just put a muzzle break on my muzzleloaders. WOW the recoil with 150 gr powder and 285 Barnes was less then a 22.250. My 12 year Grand Son shot it 5 times off the bench. I had 3 bullets touching at 100 YDS. I had no idea the recoil reduction WOW Thanks Bostrom gun Larry

What kind of brake did he use?

R A S Mel it turned the gun into something even a woman would shoot . With 100 gr it recoiled like a 223. Larry

OK but what about a sabot?

I mean does a sabot open and stick into the brake or is it something you must use with full caliber projectiles and no sabot?

Same thing I was thinking , make sure a sabot doe not get stuck and blow the brake out of alignment or even off .

I put muzzle brakes on all my smokeless muzzleloaders. 275 Parker bullets running 3200 fps and 327 Parker Bullets running 2850 fps kick like hell. A muzzle brake helps with both recoil and reloading.

The sabot is why the work so well. They did improve accuracy . I know I can shoot them better .
