Jerry Ford has been to Africa mutiple times and has killed many
African species with his 7 mm STW. He has a new STW and wanted
to get some extended range zeroes with both guns. Both were
Remington 700's. He zeroed at 200 with the 140 gr bullets. Put
two holes touching. He can shoot!!!!
Then he walked it out to 300, then 600, and finished up making a center
hit on Chuckie at 800 yds.
Tim Hewitt smithed Jerry's new STW. Tim is making the next safarii with
Jerry next March. I'm not sure what Tim is taking to Africa but he shot a 6-284 Sunday.
Jack Agee brought a new 700 Tatical 308 with a Leupold MK 4 8.5 x 25
setting on top. It shot very good and he scored Chuckie at 800 with
factory ammo, Hornady Match 168's.
Jack brought his friend Danny with him. Danny brought a new caliber
to the Dasher Dome, a Ruger 77-V in 6.5 Creedmoor. The Ruger shot
the 142 SMK's very well and he scored Chuckie. I had never shot one
and I had to try it. Took only a few shots to knock Chuckie at 800 yd.
I had been spotting with my Diamondback drop port March scope. When they were
finished I zeroed the Dasher and let Jerry try it. His first shot was a
hit at 800 yds on Chuckie. After I loaded 10 more rounds of Dasher ammo
Jerry took another shot at Chuckie. Next he shot Chico, a smaller prarie dog. Center
mass hit. I told him if he was centered up try the even smaller 4 inch swinging disk.
He shot the disc and it did several 360's after the 115 DTAC hit it in the center.
Three shots, three kills at 780 yards. I think Jerry is ruined.
Jerry is a master cabinet maker. He made and installed the cabinets in
my house 25 years ago. He and his son have rooms of stuffed animals
from around the world.
Jerry just may have to have a bench gun now. Think it might just be a
Dasher.
My factory 700 7 mm STW made in the 1990's
Junebug had two of these and I had to have one . Mine came from
a guy in California who used it in Africa.
