Need some suggestions on what muzzle thread size for my 7 rem mag with muzzle diameter of .585, I know the standard 5/8-24 will not work. Would 9/16-28 be my next option?
I just put one of these on a buddy's 7mm08 that he wanted 4" cut off the barrel. It's a sweet little brake.APA offers a 30 caliber Micro B with 9/16x24 thread. That's what I have on my 7RM. It works great.
That's not .010 but .100, which is ample. The actual amount of shoulder will be half that in height. Again, plenty IME. I don't like less than about .030...or about .060 difference in diameter. That said, depending on the brake design, it can be done to bottom on the crown end, in a pinch.Generally with a suppressor you want a bit of shoulder to back the muzzle device or suppressor weight to keep it straight and tight. That is usually provided by the manufacturer of the mount.
As an example here is Thunder Beast, note the thread size leaving only a .010" shoulder.

Agree on the Muzzle crown being possible, but I guess I missed something. That's not .010 but .100, which is ample. The actual amount of shoulder will be half that in height. Again, plenty IME. No plans for suppressor” just taming the recoil for better follow up shots and calling my impacts9/16x24 is a standard as far as sound suppressors are concerned.
Sorry for the confusion. My post was not based on the ops stated bbl dimensions, but the diagram you linked. I dont think you missed anything. Just a miscommunication by be.Agree on the Muzzle crown being possible, but I guess I missed something.
Muzzle diameter is .585" as per first post. OP was asking if a 9/16" thread would work. Major diameter for a 9/16 thread is .560". That leaves 0.0125.
If you base it on the smallest diameter of the under cut, instead of pitch diameter, it's still barely over .070" or.035" for the shoulder, based on .512" and .585".
What am I missing?
I don't see .100"
