Muzzle threading barrel diameter

I have a 450bm and have a suppressor on the way, the rifle is a ruger American that is not threaded, I am willing to buy the stuff to remove barrel to get threaded… but I’m nervous about enough material to thread… the threads would be 11/16 (.6875”) threads… muzzle diameter is .705”… I don’t think that’s enough is it?

It's my opinion that you have a couple of alternatives here. One, move up the barrel to about .750, cut, thread, and crown. should be ample shoulder (.0313). Two, thread it 5/8 X 24 and buy an adapter (about 22.00) for the suppressor. number two would be my choice.

would threading at 5/8 leave enough barrel material though?
Real close, IMO. I wouldn't want to go that thin, even with relatively low muzzle pressures of that cartridge. You could do a brake/adapter that shoulders up internally. Not real sexy but would be a solution. Still have a minimal shoulder area for it to butt against.

Yea… only option is to shorten or rebarrel…
I think a adapter can be made to work fine that will bottom out on the od of the adapter. If the bbl od is .750, you could bake a 3/4-32 adapter that has a "square" bottom to the threaded hole..that will accommodate his suppressor. That'll do away with any concerns about shoulder area as well as bbl thickness over bore diameter.

My wife is running a 223AI .940 at muzzle, i threaded both 5/8-24 for her suppressor.
That was plenty of shoulder.
Like others stated .750” is minimum.
She's got all kinds of room on her setup. The op is much tighter that you were with hers. It doesn't take much shoulder area but his bbl wall thickness is too thin imo. If you gotta make/use an adapter, might as well address both areas with it.

Yea… I’m just cautious about doing too much for this barrel… at a point it will be cheaper to sell this one and buy one with already threaded barrel or have this one rebarreled instead

I can certainly relate to that but an adapter should be easily made for between $50-$100 bucks. Two setups by my method though. One to square up the muzzle and then making the adapter. Probably still under $100

Yea… I would still have to have my barrel threaded right?
Yes, either way, unfortunately. Especially with something with a bit of recoil. An unattractive clamp-on adapter could be done but it'd drive you crazy if it moves AT ALL and could potentially damage the suppressor, but not real likely. There are ways to prevent any possible slipping, though, easily enough.
