Muzzle Break

My Vais brakes work great in not only making recoil more manageable, but also allow me to see hits (or misses) at 600yds - it's no trick to get a close zero with two shots at 600 using a brake that allows me to spot my own shots.

However, when shooting prone off a bipod, there's a lot of dust signature; if shooting into the wind, it takes only a couple of shots with a 284 Win. to cover the scope's objective with dust & debris. Something like a Miculek or Shrewd with only side ports would be much better for prone. Actually, I replaced a Vais on the 284 with an AAC SCAR-H suppressor, which - while not quite as effective as a Vais brake - makes shooting that rifle prone very pleasant.
