Muzzle Brakes

I'm going to start a project in the not to distant future and since I've never owned one before, I'm looking for some advise from the experts. Who makes the most efficient muzzle brake, and why do you think so? This will be on a 308 and double as a thread protector when other devices aren’t attached to the muzzle. Any information that you could supply me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lloyd

Harrells brakes get the job done and the price is right, lots of others will do the same thing except for the price..

Contact Eric. Speak with him as this is his specialty. He's gooooooooood.

I bought two from Harrells and they worked fine, so I'm with the Preacher.

I have muzzle breaks on most all of my prairie dog guns, I shoot too many rounds a day to take the punishment.

I like them!!!!

Does a muzzle brake make much difference on a heavy barrel .223. I am having a new barrel put on my Rem. 700 and was talked out of a brake by the smith. When ever I mention a brake to my benchrest friend the wrath begins but I know why that is.......

Dan;

If I was a benchrest shooter I probably wouldn't have a muzzle break. When you're in close proximity with several shooter, muzzle breaks could be too loud. Out on a prairie dog town I really don't notice it. In a match you don't shoot as many rounds as prairie dog shooting, that's another reason I wouldn't have them.

i have muzzle break on my 6.5x47 lapua and I can't say how little it kicks. it's phenominal. I've shot 22-250's that kicked harder course they were lighter guns and unbreaked.

Both my 260 and 308 have Tubb T2K brakes, not only does this brake work great on recoil reduction, but its tuneable so it makes your weapon more accurate, and unlike the Harrels it does not kick up dirt dust grass while shooting prone.
