Muzzle brakes on muzzleloaders

Windex is the best I have found for cleaning muzzle loaders
Using black powder or substitute
Remember they must be put on straight down the bore and made the same size as the bullet starting bore

Awesome info guys. I'm getting one put on a lightweight muzzleloader I have. Can't weigh more than 7 lbs. Only shooting 100 grains but gonna let the Grand daughter use it next year.

I usually use very hot water to clean the barrel and breech plug parts etc. I'll give that a try. The new powders aren't corrosive like the older ones were so cleaning isn't nearly as frequent. Still our muzzleloader season ends tomorrow so I'll give it a good cleaning.

I use hot water and only use bore butter for any lube. I also only use bore butter to lube my bullets so it just brushes out with a brush and hot water. I use only maxi ball bullets i cast myself and real black powder 99% of the time though so it is probably different this century. Im a traditionalist on muzzle loaders. Its not really fair to me to have one that shoots like a centerfire but thats just me. I used my scoped encore for one season then went back to the ole renegade

I think it would depend on the type of muzzle brake. I wouldn't put on a baffle design brake. I would look for something with just radial holes that didn't connect on the inside diameter as a sabot might possibly hang up on a large 'baffle' or shelf in the brake.

You must make the diameter of the break
The same as the starter for the sabo
With a sabo you can get 80% reduce recoil
I’m replacing mine with a RAS tuner break.

So approximately how many thou larger than bore diameter are you talking?

I use Harrell's brakes on my centerfire rifles. So what you're saying is I should be good to go with those?
