muzzle brake install question

Putting a brake on a new 284W. How far inside the brake should the muzzle be? Flush with the first baffle or deeper? I'm guessing back around .100" from the first baffle but want to know from those more experienced. Thanks

I like them with the muzzle flush with the back edge of the port. Smoother flow.

Depends on the brake. Most flush as mentioned, also allows for maximum length of thread tenon and thread engagement. Some are obvious, as you'll barely have minimum .500-.625 available.
But some are different, when I install JP Recoil Eliminators they recommend recessing 1/4".

If it's a commercial brake, go by the mfg. instructions.

It’s one of Ross Schulers brakes that he sells on this site. There’s lots of thread available. If it matters it’s a 3/4-28 thread.
