Muzzle Brake for 6br

I'm currently running a Savage varmint contour .800 26" with plans to switch to a heavy sporter .685. 24". Coyote hunting from a blind. Considering a brake. What do you think? And what kind.

I’m running a Harrell’s radial brake on my 6BR Improved. It’s hard to imagine that there’s a better value in muzzle brakes, but I guess it’s possible.

Hey Mark, how's the noise? You hunting with it?

I haven’t shot it without ear protection, but the blast isn’t nearly as bad as the 4 port brakes that I have. It definitely works for recoil reduction. I’ll probably get flamed, but I wouldn’t be afraid to use for something like coyote hunting where the number of shots would be limited.

No flames from me. Been there. Think I'll give the radial a try. Thanx.

Consider a suppressor, I shot brakes for years (with hearing protection) and my wife says my hearing is bad. Wish I had bought the suppressors forty years ago. I may have a 6mm brake you can have if you want it.
Wow, pm sent.

EVERY time you shoot without hearing protection you lose some hearing. It doesn't heal and you can't get it back.

Hearing loss has been closely correlated to early onset dementia and brain deterioration. Horrific things to live with for both you and your family.

Get some good electronic muffs at a minimum so you can hear as good or better and still cut off a bunch of the noise and damage from the gunshot.

Mark dont even think about shooting w/o protection.
It sometimes only takes one shot to do a lot of damage.
My hearing loss is my fault, starting at 17yrs old shooting trap w/o muffs. I sure wish someone had read me the riot act on hearing protection.
I started using good muffs and plugs after it was too late.
I'm 72 now, wear H Aides that cost over 5k, and it tough to hear and understand a lot of voices. Protect your hearing like your life depended on it. LDS

I've got two MuzzleBrakes & More , 4 port , gill style MB's on a pair of Mosin-Nagant's that shoot very heavy loads . Reduced the recoil way down to manageable , to the point that 75-80 rounds are no longer out of the question with either rifle . Before adding the MB's , 20 - 25 rounds was about all my shoulder could tolerate . Good product from a excellent craftsman .

I have a MuzzleBrakes&More 3 port on my 700 5r 308 I really like how easy it is to get on and off for cleaning. it does a good job of reducing recoil also. Recently I needed a clamp-on brake for my older 700 308 VSSF and decided on the Witt Machine brake it is awesome I really like that one also and both companies are great to deal with.
