Any ported muzzle brake that can be contoured down to the barrel shape?

I'm looking for a side ported variety of muzzle brake that can be machined down to about .805" with the contour of a Remington varmint barrel. The narrowest Holland straight "QD Brake" available is .850" diameter and I was told it needs to stay close to about that diameter. So, it's too thick for how I want to use it.

Can anybody think of a ported brake I can get my hands on that can be turned down that far?

Harrels should be able to solve your problem.
I turn them down for barrels smaller than that...

I don't see any side ported brakes there being offered. If you say they have them there like that, then I'll call and inquire.

I bought a couple of these from Brownells that could be turned down to .800 this one was a 1" that was turned down to .920.

I've included a photo of a Hollands QD Brake so you may know what a SIDE PORTED muzzle brake looks like and what it is I'm trying to locate.

I also can't take it upon myself to just have one of these SIDE PORT style brakes installed on my barrel and machined down to the barrel contour, unless the manufacturer has tested and verified that it will work properly and safely this way.

Thanks.

I think we just have a terminology difference as the brake I showed you on my dasher is a SIDE discharge brake. three rows on each side none top or bottom. Hollands brake is a quick discharge bake also ported on the top as well . Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words as they say! Good luck on you quest.

Can't get the link up but check out Russ Sculer web site or give him a call & tell him your needs. Very nice gent with a quality product.

Harrels does make a side port brake. I have one, very nice. Don't know how up to date their site is.

I thank you all for your input.

BRFUN,
Sorry that at a glance I mistook that brake for a device that had holes all around it like the Vais. While I understand that the holes being slanted forward will help direct the blast away from you, it actually loses some efficiency while thrusting the rifle back to you. I would prefer holes on top too so that the rifle is held down from barrel whip. I'm not saying it hasn't worked well for you.....just that I prefer the other features .

PREACHER and HOLDSTILL,
I called Harrel's and everybody was gone on vacation except one guy there. He claimed to not know a whole lot but did tell me that he didn't think their ported MB should be turned down.

I did manage to find a straight 4 ported MB with 4 side ports on each side, and top holes, that can be turned down. The guy purposely makes them to be contoured to Remington barrels, down to .810 They are at muzzlebrakesandmore.com
