Wanting to mount a 34mm tube scope with 56mm objective on an Armalite AR30A1 with the long 18" rail. What height rings will I need to clear the rail with flip-up scope caps?
Would I be better off with a one piece integral base/ring style?
Also, rifle is chambered in 300 Win Mag and will be shot at <1000 yds. Would a 20MOA be needed?

(56/2) + thickness of flip up cap at bottom of scope + how much clearance you want.

20MOA is probably desirable. How much internal elevation travel does your scope have?

Per owners manual "23.26 Mils of elevation adjustment"

With a flat base, and if the optic zeroed at the mid point, which isn't likely, you would have 11.63 mils of up elevation and 11.63 of down. Let's say you lose 1 or 2 mils to non-centered zero. Using 2, that would give you 9.63 mils of up. What's your come up at 1000?

I am going to shift to moa here. All that said, you have approximately 40 moa down and 40 moa up on your scope. Putting a 20 moa mount on it would give approximately 20 down and 60 up. That is probably what I would do.
