Most explosive Varmint bullet

There are numerous explosive varmint bullets, but if I was going for, economical, accurate, and explosive, I would try the Varmageddons.

Actually since that pic I have raised the shoulder and also sharpened it to 35 Deg, I think it is referred to as a 300 Tomahawk

Ahhh, well excuse me! Varminting with the battleship much?!?

Denying even the crows and vultures huh?

Speer 50 grain TNT in a 22-250 will leave you wondering if you even hit a gopher because there is literally nothing left sometimes. The TNTs have always been extremely accurate in anything we've shot them in too

@scope eye - make it 40* just to make him even more mad ;) What velocities are you getting with that and accuracy. I love a big hitter for groundhogs, I wished they'd make more long range varmint bullets with a polymer tip and a BC above .4, I can't ever get the 87's to shoot.

I'm still on the hunt for the perfect groundhog bullet but which one is still up in the air. I always go back to Ballistic tips and vmax's in all the popular calibers, the 87's would have to get the nod for destruction but they always leave me wanting more in accuracy.

How about the 40 gr Sierra varminter ????????? Sierra puts a big hollow point in those things;)

They have the BC of a ping pong ball... Ok for maybe 250 yards, but the 40 V-Max. SBK and Varmageddons are better choices, and the varmageddons can be had for ~12 cents..

The Varmageddons I got would not hit a pie plate. Maybe they were seconds...but I do like the Vmax and the TNT, which is cheap and makes a great big mess on a chuck

I realize the BC is bad but I thought the OP was looking for explosive, he never said he was shooting far......... The BC is also bad on the 85 gr 6.5mm version of the varminter but out to 400 yds it's devastating out of my 6.5x47Lapua. I don't think the BC on anything under 55gr is worth bragging about, but if the OP is working close range, who cares about BC.

Consider the 50 grain Hornady Z-max bullet. It is a green tipped less expensive clone of the V-max. Can often be found on sale for $60 per 500 at Cabelas.

I've shot Sierra Blitzking, Nosler ballistic tips and V/Z-max bullets and I've found them all to be very accurate and equally explosive.

I think the OP needs to give some more info (he hasn't responded since he posted) but what varmints and max range would be nice. I know many bullets suggested for prairie dogs I wouldn't even consider for groundhogs where I hunt and I'm sure that prairie dog hunters think groundhog bullets are too much for the smaller varmints.

Many seem to clump the two together but from what I've read (I've never hunted prairie dogs) I do not like a groundhog to craw away and they seem much tougher than a P-dog and I want the groundhogs to be dead right there, there's no pleasure from me from a wounded groundhog getting in their hole and they are not weak so I want some DRT power.
