Most Accurate .243 Big Game Hunting Bullet

Sierra’s 85 grain bullet would most likely kill deer size game nicely. The 6mm‘s, for me, have turned out to be very effective deer killers. One shot drop in their tracks kind of good. and they do this with very little recoil. I started my daughter with a little Remington 243 model seven and ended up liking the results so well I started to carry a 243 For deer.

This is the rifle I built for deer, coyotes and general varmint killing. It’s a L.A.W., Legendary Arms Works 6 Creedmoor. It is built around an Ed Brown designed model 704 action with one of their smaller stocks. I sent it to PacNor for one of their barrels, general trueing and tuning work. I put a good trigger in it and started to tune for loads. it turned out to where Bergers 105 VLD Hybrid target loads where some of the most accurate loads I found. It’s nice when I can just buy factory ammo for a rifle. By the way this load also shoots VERY well with another of my rifles. With these loads this little rifle shoots 1/2” 5 shot groups as long as I don’t screw it up. I’m working on a load to shoot the 87 grain bullets because I like them so much. And the dog is a character in general.

@ South Pender,..
It was shot by my Son when at, 45 years of age ( Better Eyes than, Me ), Factory Tikka, 1.25 pound, Elay Precision, Trigger Spring, CAREFULLY, "Broke -in", free floated, Barrel and, "Worked Up" Load with, the 87 gr BERGER, H-VLD's @ .070 off Jam. This Rifle,.. "Shoots",.. But this,.. IS, a "Wallet Group" ( ONCE and probably, .. DONE, group ) as it's, a Pencil Barrel, light weight, 7.5 lb., Hunting Rifle.
Berger H-VLD's shoot, AS GOOD as, Target Bullets,.. IF, you can Find their correct, Seating depth.
Of, My 3 Tikka's, the very WORST One, a .270 WSM, "Shoot's",.. 3/4 MOA w/ 140 Berger's at 3,175 FPS ave.
My 6.5 Creed Tikka, does, a 1/2 MOA frequently with, Hornady, 130 gr. ELD-M's, down into, the mid 3's on my,..
good Days.
I know this is an older thread. I find this easy to believe when you mentioned the word tikka !! My HB varmint will shoot lights out with 41 1/2 gr H4350 with lapue brass, small match rifle primer and the scenar 139 gr bullet. Best 5 shot group is 1.36. Many in the 2's. My rifle has sold 4 more for tikka. Lol. Everyone of them shoots 1/2" group or better. 2 more 6.5 creedmoors, 1 6mm creedmoor, 1 .223 rem, and 1 .243 win.

Worth saying again, the 85g Speer btsp performs better on big deer than the 85g Sierra BTHP, super accurate, better BC. HOT load of IMR 4831 or R#19,@3300 fps.

95g Nosler ballistic tips are legendary in the Southeast. We usually get two exits with the 95g Partitions on large Nebraska Corn-fed deer (3150 fps with IMR 4831, 9 1/2). Large Kansas bucks flopped with 100g Hornady BTSP with a warmish load of IMR 4350,200-350 yards. 95g Nosler partitions shot 1/2" groups with IMR 4831(Rem 9 1/2) or R#19(fed 215), ~3150 fps.

Custom build 8T, 105g Berger vld hunting is worth building a rifle around. Spring for cost of R#26, cci 250, 3150+ at the accuracy node in tough brass, no Federal, Nosler, or Norma brass.

I want to try the Norma Ornx bonded core 100g.
