Mossberg Patriot 25-06

A friend of mine and I bought (2) of the new Mossberg Patriot rifles in 25-06 and thought the might be fun to play with. After a proper break-in we started shooting 3 shot groups. With different powders and different bullets. Cleaning after any powder change. I have looked at the bores with a bore scope and the lands and grooves look good for a production rifle. With that being said these 2 rifles are the worst shooting rifles that I have shot in over 30 years. 3" to 4" 3 shot groups with nothing shooting any better. Has anybody had any different results with these rifles. Or are they just junk and won't do any better http://forum.accurateshooter.com/index.php?topic=3886034.0than that. I have played with all kinds of inexpensive rifles Savages,Marlins, Reningtons Thompson/Centers and Rugars and all were fairly accurate 1 1/2" or less and with fine tuning would shoot well under 1" groups in some cases as good as 3/8" groups. But not these Mossberg"s. they are just awful. Tell any experience that any of you have had with the Mossberg Patriot rifles. Has anyone out there any where had a different results??? If this what everyboby else is getting out of these Mossberg Patriot Rifles I highly recommend them buy something different as they shoot AWFUL !!!!

They're on sale for $299.99, with free shipping. Seems you found out why. Sorry to hear about your experience.

What kind of scopes are on these rifles. If they come with a scope it is more than likely that is where to start. Put a known good scope on and shoot it. Then proceed to bedding.

Mossberg has never to my knowledge manufactured a "quality" firearm of any sort ::).

When I was a young lad my dad bought me a single shot Remington rifle .22 at a pawn shop near where he worked, $10.00 (I think), I had to make a new stock for it but it was super accurate.

My next door neighbour bought his son a NEW Mossberg .22 rifle single shot from a local store. It wouldn't hit a barn if you shot from the inside with the door shut ! In looking over the rifle trying to figure out what was wrong, my dad found that the front sight bead was made of lead!! NOT 8) !
So, they took it back, refund. Dad then got him one like mine, we built a stock for it and it shot awesome.
My buddy and I with our twin .22's shot enough squirrels, rabbits, quail, ducks, geese, turkeys, and 2 deer to have our fathers say they wish they had bought the guns for us earlier (saved them lots of money ;D
My dad wouldn't give me enough money to buy a soft drink, but if I told him I was out of .22 bullets, he would jump in the care an go get me some 8).

I have had at least no less than 6 Mossberg .22lr that shot excellent. I also had a .243 that shot under a 1/2 moa with good bullets of course. These newer rifles shoot very well however we really know nothing other than it doesn't shoot anything very well. If he answers my questions we have somewhere to start.

Abt. 25 years ago Savage was selling the 110 with a scope for under $ 200. A friend want a cheap carry gun for groundhogs and got one. It shot like crap. I floated the barrel, work on the mag. to get it to feed, and worked on the trigger. After the finish work that should have been done at the factory, the gun shot great, well under 1 moa. Savage now does their own finish work at the factory, but don`t look like Mossberg does. I would guess that if you do the finish work the guns will shoot. When 13 my uncle bought me a single shot Mossberg 22 and it was a tack driver, out shot a lot of Remmys with it.

I recently purchased a Mossberg Patriot, 300 Winchester Mag, Synthetic stock, no name scope. How it shoots remains to be seen, but the magazine is faulty as the last cartridge always pops out on it's own and causes a feed jam.

I don't know about 25-06 but I will tell you about Mossberg MVP. we got one and worked on trigger and lapped the crap out of the barrel which is a 24in. then we bedded the stock to make sure it wasn't touching any where. this gun is .223 and loaded it with a 70gr berger and it now holds the range record at 900yds. nobody has came close to its group yet. 4.89in for 5 shots!

just got this gun shoots great very happy with it, was a little nervous with what people on here were saying. But most of the time its the person not the gun
