Mossberg MVP barrel threads?

I have a Mossberg MVP Varmint in 5.56 NATO. I would like to do a barrel swap, but before I do I need to know the barrel shank thread specs; diameter and pitch. That's my question.

FYI, I've contacted Mossberg Tech Support three separate times for zero results. They are a dead end. Also, the barrel nut requires a pin spanner wrench I don't have, so I'll probably have a special wrench made as I don't trust spanner wrenches, anyway. My rifle's factory barrel nut has bad case of wrench rash. Warning taken.

Please, only reply with what you know for a fact. I've already heard the rumor. That said, I hope the rumor is true; that the threads are the same as the original Savage 110 (1.055"x20tpi), but nobody claims to know for sure.

Are you aware there is a forum dedicated to MVP's> mossberg mvp.com?
There is also mossbergownersforum.com.
Lastly, try posting this on the gunsmithing forum below.

First, thanks much for your very prompt reply.

I was unaware of any of these sites. Had I been, I probably would not have posted at AS.c. I will certainly make contact, today.

Just one more thing, I don't see the gunsmith site you referred to, or am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks, again.

Thanks, JB.

Now, I wonder if the MVP action threads are sloppy enough the extra .055" on a Savage barrel just might fit(?). If not, I may be able to remove the excess by chasing the threads.

Wish me luck.

On this site, AccurateShooter.com.....see the last sub-forum titled "Gun Project Questions and Gunsmithing"

I thought 20tpi was 20tpi, and the .055" excess diameter would provide adequate material for re-threading. What am I missing?

If anyone finds definitive info on this forum or another please link that data here. I am very interested in this topic.

I bought an MVP for barricade/improvised position shooting practice and while the trigger was awful, the accuracy was great for the $ and the other features make it a high value rifle in my opinion. Not to highjack but I put a JARD trigger in the MVP and it is the best trigger I have, but I only have a few timneys, a 40x, xjunkpros, and accutriggers. No basix, jewels or hubers yet.

Hey big guy, I have one of these rifles that I rebarreled myself to 300 blackout.
The barrel tendon is 7/8 or .875 x 28 thread.

There is 2 different barrel threads, 1"-20 and 7/8"-28?

Is this do to the rim fire/center fire rifles or what?

Was looking at using these rifles for NRA Junior High Power since AR's are no longer available in State, kind of late as Peru cut the Highpower Program.

Thanks, and I see I got you and Taildrag15X mixed up. My bad. (No wonder I'm confused about threads, I can't even keep names straight!)
