Mossberg 144LSB

I just found out in a thread on the rimfire section that a bunch of folks have these fun rifles.
I've had my 144LSB for 35 years now and it still shoots pretty good.
I am setting it up for 100 yd shooting to practice for long range bench rest.
Only part that bothers me is the trigger! My finger is too large for it and to say it is insensitive would be an understatement.
What combined intelligence is available on this site to improve the trigger (or, replace it!) as well as simple things to improve the whole rifle?

A friend of mine just polishes all the trigger mechanisms where they meet and says there is a adjustment at the trigger once you take the stock off. I have a 46MB and a 144LS and my son has a 144 LSB that just hammers, these old rifles will really shoot. The LSB my son has is a target version heavy barrel that was a government gun for shooting team on an aircraft carrier,it will shoot in the .2's and .3's. These were built from 79 to 85 if I"m not mistaken and used by military up till about 95 or 98 if the info I got was correct. With a little work you can probably make a real shooter out of it.
