Mosin Nagant to .223?

I just can't bring myself to work on or 'experiment' with Mosin Nagants.. I much prefer to have whatever I work on be worth something after putting my time and effort into it!

Who cares what it's worth? Only matters if you plan on selling it...
Never dumped a ton of coin into a custom car that you could never get back out?
I could tell you about a 40' Sportfisherman I restored...money pit...but, it was exactly what I wanted when I was done. One of a kind.

Everyone and their mother has a 700 clone that shoots half minute. How can anyone get excited about that?

Now, a Mosin with a .308 Shilen barrel that does it...THAT turns some heads at the range.

"You can't make a silk purse out of a sows' ear!"

I think i have what i need to know for now about the subject.
i am not interested and didn't start the thread labeled " Should you or shouldn't you re-barrel a Mosin Nagant " i ask for info about requirements of doing it, several people have been very helpful!
Thanks for the info from the people that posted help!

I have 2 one Finish capture, reissue and one carbine with bayonette.

Why, because.

I thought I might experiment but easier/better actions exist.

Sure thing...
Tell that to the Soviets that won the Olympic Biathlon with one (before the rules were changed)...
Or the Finns that to this day, use one as a Designated Marksman sniper rifle (TKIV-85)

Many more examples of very accurate rifles that can be built off these dreceivefz.
You don't have a clue what you're talking about. The floating bolthead design provides respectable accuracy potential.

Ya' but they're a 'clucker'. Would make a good trot line weight! And I do know what I am talking about. You won't see any customs built on them at the SCI/ACGG show!
