I want some more neck length sizing on one of my Harrel's dies. The bushing area pins at .500 so I made this little stub to locate it in the mill. In the bottom of a scrap box, there was a short piece of barrel from an Interarms 30-06 I'd shortened....there was my donor stub piece.
A view of the bushing floor in the die.
Completed locating stub. The green area is .500 and locates into the bushing area of the die. The pink area measures .531 which locates inside the threaded area above the bushing which measures right at .532. The blued section is the original barrel bluing. The light blue section at the end was turned to .532 so that will fit nicely into a 9/16" collet on the mill.
Once it's located on the mill table, the 'stub' will get swapped for a 1/2" carbide, no edge radius end mill and take the floor down .030-ish. I might turn the blue section to .500 so I don't have to swap collets.
Good shootin'
