More Deer Hunting Thread

I was going to post this earlier but hadn't got around to it. However, as with last year, Preachers post has inspired me to post some pics also...

Like the other guys in his thread; it’s been tough hunting this year here as well. I hunted HARD all through November & had all but given up on a decent deer for this year. I was finally in the “right place, right time” the weekend of Thanksgiving. I shot this deer late in the morning following a doe in a 4 year old cut-out. Not the biggest set of horns but a pretty unique deer. He had lots of white were he wasn’t supposed to ;D, even his hooves were “zebra’d” . He’s the biggest horned piebald I have ever seen.

Our deer season is in throughout the rest of the year. I’m going to “BR” one off the back deck again soon too.

Coleridge,
Count your blessings! In Wisconsin for instance, albino and piebald deer are illegal to harvest. Have no idea why. BTW, nice rack!

Ya did good, way to go, cool looking buck you tagged...
They are legal here in NYS, no problem....

Good thing they're not illegal here :o I didn't know he had the extra white until i got to him. He was in the "thick" & about all I could see was the horns. He was standing ~175 yards away in the center of following pic. I was lucky to pick him out much less thread a bullet (or more :-X) through. Most of the thicket is well over head high & unhuntable this year (I had already drug him to an opening for the 1st pic). What I'm "watching" is 90 degrees to the right. A cut lane & hillside. I just got lucky out the passangerside window 8)

Cloeridge,
Nice Piebald!! Here is a pic of a friends Piebald kill back in 93 or 94. I have not seen one around these parts since. They are definitely a rare find and great prize, especially one with a Rack like yours. Congrats!

Actually, piebalds are fair game in Wisconsin, but albinos are protected, even though they are proven to be genetically inferior.

Coleridge,

Fantastic buck.

Thank goodness you got that piebald out of the gene pool. Piebald deer are a result of in-breeding so if you let them live they just hurt the quality of the deer. In East NC where I hunt the practice is no matter when you see any piebald deer kill it. Many farmers keep a rifle handy on their tractor or in their truck just in case they spot a piebald deer. There are a lot of deer in this area and inbreeding is a problem.

Thanks for the replys!

I wonder what his horns would have looked like if he hadn't been an inferior specimen ;D

I'm in NC also.

Real neat looking deer. To me it's a unique trophy to be remembered forever.

Thanks for sharing that experience.
