Turbulent Turtle
F-TR competitor
During the recent Canadian FCNC in Ottawa, I ran into Gary Costello of March Scopes Europe behind one of the firing lines. I didn't know who he was but we started talking because I noticed the March scope on his rifle. It was the same as mine; the wonderful March-X 5-50X56.
Of course, as all March scopes users do when they discuss their scopes, they tout their accessories. At this time, I had the power ring lever and the larger side-focus wheel. I also had the larger elevation turret but had not put it on yet, you know the one with the label on which you can write your own come-ups. We also discussed the use of the zero-stop feature at this venue, always switching firing lines.
Then Gary mentioned the windage turret that he used, which had left and right scales. Seeing the look of utter confusion on my face, he pointed to his rifle and said "look at the windage turret." Sure enough there were two rings of clicks, marked L on the left, and R on the right. Nothing rocket sciency about that, but for old geezers like me who still wind scopes the wrong way because I wanted to go to the other right, or not the left, or whatever, it is a treat.
So, I told him I had not seen that one on the March website. That's because it does not exist for March Deon or USA, it was a special for the UK. Of course, I now had to have one. Gary said, send me an email after the FCNC/FCWC and we'll get it done or words to that effect.
Gary is also a fountain of knowledge about March scopes and what makes them so special and we just a had a fun conversation, then he went his way and I went mine.
After I returned home last week, I sent him an email, asking how to go about acquiring the turret, where to send money and so on. He promptly replied that he would send me one for free and that I would get the shipping reference number in a day or so. Sure enough I got the notice of shipment just as Harvey was finally departing our area. Three days later, my wife informs me I received a small package from the UK. They had finally reopened the airport and another step had been taken, returning to "normal."
I installed the turret on my rifle that evening, since I have no idea when I will be shooting again.
My March scope has been performing brilliantly since I put it on my rifle a few years back, after buying from Jim Kelbly's outfit. I bought the accessories from Shiraz's outfit after he took over the brand, and now Gary Costello of March UK was gracious beyond belief in getting me this windage turret. They say people make the product, they are totally right; March has good people representing it.
My thanks to Gary Costello from March Scope Europe for this wonderful gesture. This is just even more reason to appreciate my March riflescope; the best riflescope for F-Class.
