Montana stock for a model 70?

Looking for a post 64 model 70 stock but found one for a Montana, both l/a just curious if it has the same action bolt spacing.

Montana long action screw spacing is 7.575". That comes from a post from 2008 on 24 HCR. The guy that posted it appears to have been with Montana Rifle Co.

Long action post 64 M-70s have action screw spacing listed as 7.57". They are also said to have 7 5/8" screw spacing, which would be 7.625".

So the answer is it will probably work, but may require some fitting.

What type of M-70 stock are you looking for?

Seems to me the receiver ring is longer on the Montana. That'll leave a gap in front of the front receiver ring if you put a Win in a Montana stock.
